Bihar Government Presents State Budget in Assembly 

On Monday, March 3, the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar tabled a budget for 2025-26. The ongoing assembly places the budget at around 3.17 lakh crore for the upcoming fiscal year. Presenting the budget, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who holds the finance ministry, told the house that this year’s financial plan has increased Rs 38196 crore more compared with the last financial circle.

The budget session started on February 28 and will continue to March 28, with a total of 28 meetings scheduled during the session. The finance minister said that the budget is more influenced towards the upliftment of common people in Bihar at the beginning of the budget session. “The budget is more inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s margdarshan (guidance) and our CM’s pure leadership,” he added.

The budgetary benefit with a prospect of development, especially for education, is that the government allocated around 60,964 crore for pedagogy to assist the young demography in Bihar. To provide the betterment of people’s healthy lifestyle, more than 20 thousand crore has been allotted in the sector, while 17831 crore has been handed out to the home department, which is responsible for law and order. 

The government has also planned for women’s empowerment as Mahila Haat (women’s marketplace) in Patna proposed in the budget. For transportation and cleaning facilities, officials briefed pink toilets (for all districts) and pink buses for major cities.

Presenting all the schemes in an ongoing assembly, Samrat Choudhary said, “Modi’s vision of Sabka sath, sabka vikas prayas, and the CM’s motto to promote Bihar with discipline, we are twining development ideas in this budget. We are continuously working for the development of the common class in Bihar with several schemes.” 

He said Bihar received approximately 10 percent of the budget from the center to establish the Makhana Board and Food Institute of Technology, which will help to empower the agri sector in the region. For the greenfield airports at Sultanganj and Raxaul, in Bhagalpur and East Champaran districts, the government has given priority in the budget.” We are also working for the growth of the state. 

In the budget, the Bihar government proposed Kanya Vivah Mandaps in all panchayats, which will serve the needs of the poor people in rural areas during the marriage of either girls or boys. 

He also said, “The administration intends to ensure development with the support of the Centre. People are also supporting us to soar in all sectors to achieve the goal of Samridhi Bihar, which will indeed achieve the dream of Viksit Bharat.”
