Piku: A Heartwarming Tale of Family, Responsibility, and Love

Piku is a movie based on the father (Amitabh Bachchan)-daughter (Deepika Padukone) duo, who live together in Delhi. Bhaskor (Amitabh Bachchan), a 70-year-old father with the problem of constipation, is always worried about his motion, and 30-year-old Piku (Deepika Padukone) constantly worries about her father’s health. Bhaskor does not want to marry off Piku as he believes once married, women leave the purpose of their life and sacrifice their life in taking care of their husband.

He continuously told Piku that he is her responsibility now as she has grown up and she should take care of him. Piku also believed in her father as she thinks that every child is responsible for their parents once grown up. Thus, she takes care of him and his medicines willingly and addresses his tantrums throughout the journey.

Piku has turned out to be a great story with refined direction. The story took hilarious turns as well with the presence of Rana Chaudhary (Irfan Khan), owner of the Himachal taxi service, who decides to drive the duo to Kolkata as his taxi driver runs away due to Piku’s angry nature, which often led to accidents whenever she took services from Himachal taxi for her office.

Thus, overall, the movie discusses a serious issue of society with a tint of humor. The movie teaches that sometimes old-age behavior of parents can be somewhat annoying, but that does not mean that children should leave their parents in old-age homes. Thus, the movie gives the impression that such nature can be dealt with patience and love.
