New Resolution of the UN on RUSSIA-UKRAINE Rattles Russia

On the third anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war, the UN has draughted a new resolution on the Russia-Ukraine matter, giving relief to Ukraine. The US has brought in this resolution in the United Nations approving the revival of all the Russian forces from Ukraine.

This resolution (Russia-Ukraine)may make peace upon the Ukrainian territory as the area has been continuously in a state of war for three years. This ongoing war has cost almost thousands of lives and enormous damage to infrastructure; it has also affected the lives of Ukrainian civilians.

Meanwhile, France and the US tabled a resolution stating that ‘The path to peace’ mourns the tragic loss of life throughout the “Russian Federation-Ukraine” conflict. A draft amendment tabled by France aims to replace “the Russian Federation-Ukraine conflict” in the US-tabled text with “the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.”.

In the voting session, there was a total of 93 votes in favour, 18 against, and 65 abstentions. India once again restrains itself from voting and confirms its position as neutral, having strong diplomatic relations with Russia. Meanwhile, countries like Afghanistan and China supported the resolution drafted by the UN.

Russia bags the support of countries like Iran and Belarus. The Russian Federation voted against the bill, showing their possibility of continuing the conflict and invasion as the resolution was adopted; the UNGA applauded the seated members on this achievement.

This resolution may have given a moment of relief to Ukrainians and Europeans, but Putin’s take on the ceasefire once again puts the EU and UN in a state of dilemma. Putin has said that even with the deployment of a ceasefire, Russian troops will not be returning from Ukraine; they’ll contribute to serving there.
