New Education Policy: M K Stalin slams Centre over Hindi Imposition

M K Stalin, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister stated once again on Thursday that the state will not allow the “imposition of Hindi,” amid rumors that the Center is allegedly imposing Hindi. Addressing people in a rally on Wednesday, he accused the central government of imposing Hindi on Tamil people through the National Education Policy.

In a letter, he mentioned that “Hindi is the mask, Sanskrit is the hidden face.” The central government is trying to impose Hindi and wants to replace all the regional languages using the 3-language formula as part of the National Education Policy (NEP),” he added.

Further, the party leader claimed that many North Indian languages are now destroyed due to the strong acceptance of Hindi by states. Stalin said, “there are too many regional languages, including Maithili, Brajbhasha, Bundelkhandi, and Awadhi, that Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are still holding, demolished by the hegemony of Hindi.”

There are more than 25 North Indian native languages that are kept away as the government wants to set the hegemony of Hindi to restore Sanskrit languages to relevancy. People in our state are aware of their culture and social dogmas, while our century-old Dravidian movement safeguarded Tamilians against any linguistic force.

Therefore, the central government denied any allegations related to language imposition in the state. Many BJP leaders consider this the hate politics played by DMK leaders to divert from the real issues that are going on in the state.

The focus of the Center is on implementing the new education policy. It is a three-language policy in the education system, but the opposition condemns this initiative as it downgrades the regional languages. Stalin said if Tamil Nadu accepts the triangular policy, the mother tongue will be ignored, and there will be Sanskritization in the future.
