March 8, 2025 campaign theme for International Women’s Day talks about “Accelerate Action”, directing the world towards a more gender-neutral society, boycotting all the gender disparity and moving towards gender equality.
The early 1900s observed an era of significant global industrial growth as well as turbulence which embarked on the journey of International Women’s Day, with females taking swift actions demanding shorter working hours, equal positions increased wages and very important voting rights for women.
The Socialist Party of America first celebrated Women’s Day in 1910, followed by several other nations such as Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in 1911. However, the United Nations formally declared the day in 1975, which was further adopted on March 8, 1977, adopting and promoting women’s rights and world peace.
International Women’s Day: Why it Matters?
The day not only signifies women’s resilience but is an idea which throws a ray of light on the inclusion of gender equality, reproductive rights, and women’s rights to equal pay and, struggle against discrimination and violence. Women are the idols of change, hard work, empathy and justice. This day calls for a collective force that challenges societal norms, breaks barriers, and stands up together for these girls and women globally.
