Ozempic: In today’s digital world privacy seems a far-fetched concept after the arrival of social media and every move you make is being visible and scrutinized by the people online. Especially if you’re a celebrity it’s expected of you to live a lifestyle that fits the social media norms. A body image that requires you to look lean and fit comes with a lot of pressure and hence “Ozempic” has now become the talk of the town for celebrities’ weight loss.
Ram Kapoor, the A list TV actor shocked everyone when he made a public appearance after his weight loss. The actor lost 55 kgs in 18 months after maintaining a strict diet. Ozempic is a drug to treat type 2 diabetes, the drug is being used for weight loss by many celebrities. Due to its ability to mimic a natural body hormone called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) slows down digestion process, thus reducing appetite and suppressing your brain’s craving for hunger which makes you feel satiated. The drug can have serious side effects such as nausea, fatigue, constipation, heartburn and in severe cases kidney issues, gall bladder issues and stomach paralysis. Consuming Ozempic for weight loss can make your body habitual of the drug causing an addiction.
Celebrities like Karan Johar and even Hollywood celebrities like Rebel Wilson, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Elon Musk and several others have been using ozempic to tackle obesity in the eyes of the public. Jesse Plemons, the breaking bad actor recently opened up about using ozempic for weight loss. It is believed that celebrities partake in high profile events known as “GLP-1 parties” in which the drug is administered in microdoses without revealing the potential side effects.
Medical experts and health nutritionists have warned against the use of the drug as a weight loss tool. While stars do not publicly acknowledge the use of this drug in their weight loss journeys, fans continue to come up with their own theories to address the suspense around the trend. Many fitness influencers online have also started talking about this ‘ozempic trend’ to spread awareness among users. It is important for users to be aware and not follow every trend blindly, just because a celebrity is doing so. As stars have responsibility towards society to promote a healthy lifestyle, users do have the responsibility to act with proper caution and due diligence, rather than just being part of a simple trend.
