CM Stalin Demands PM’s Stand on Dharmendra Pradhan’s Comments in Lok Sabha

Supporters of the minister are buzzing about a storm that has broken out because of a statement in the Lok Sabha on Monday that insulted MPs from Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has condemned the Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan for the same. Continuing with a rather spicy line, Stalin wanted to know if the PM endorsed these comments, calling into question the dignity and honour of electees from Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Minister continued, “It’s unacceptable, coming from a Union Minister, for such derogatory remarks to be made about elected representatives from our state.” The Minister enjoyably withdrew his remarks; however, the political storm created was unbelievable. Parties opposing political leaders from Tamil Nadu have hurled insults and disrespectful comments towards the minister who made the personal comments. Several MPs from the state expressed their anger in Parliament and have also demanded an apology.

Stalin has mentioned that the comment has further heightened tensions between the Tamil Nadu government and the Centra, saying that such comments help in diminishing the persona of the federal system of the country. He asked Prime Minister Modi to act and take a firm stand so that such incidents might not be repeated in the future. Political analysts believe that this incident will only add to the fraying relationship between the DMK-led government of Tamil Nadu and the BJP-led Centre, especially with elections around the corner. Meanwhile, the people and political parties of Tamil Nadu are keeping an eye on the PM’s response to the whole issue.
