Bihar is a place of rich cultural heritage, known for its ancient identity and spiritual significance. It’s the birthplace of Mahavir, the origin of Buddhism, the world’s oldest educational institutions, the establishment of republics, and many more.
As one of the prosperous regions during the early phase of the world’s formation after the birth of Lord Jesus, the state encompassed vast areas, including Magadh Samrajya. Ashok Samrat, Gupta, and many other kings restore their position after each other.
The state is located in northern India, at the foot of the Himalayas, featuring a picturesque landscape with fertile land in Pachhimi Champaran, rich arts and culture in Madhubani, a thriving medium sector business in Kishanganj, and regional political dynamics in Patna. There are vibrant art forms like Manjusha, Tikuli, and others that are incredibly famous among the people.
Spiritual and arts forms not just diversified and represented the cultural amalgamation of various dynasties and traditions that have flourished in Bihar over centuries, but they also showed the realist, natural, prosperous Bihar.
The region has been renowned for its kingdom’s bravery since ancient times. Two of the most glorious dynasties, the Mauryas (321 to 185 CE) and the Guptas (320 to 550 CE), flourished in Bihar. King Ashoka of the Maurya dynasty, whose empire spread across South Asia, set an image of Bihar as one of the greatest regions.
From that time, the educational system was more accountable and popularly known as the golden age, as Nalanda and Vikramshila were established as the center of learning. Both universities were known as the world’s largest centers where students came from China, Korea, and Japan for study.
In recent times, everything is changing dominantly. High technology and advanced equipment have been invited for medical needs, but you know it has been discovered earlier by Indian saints mentioned in the Sanhita, a book that talks about Vedic literature, referring to a collection or compilation of hymns, prayers, and liturgical formulas, encompassing the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda.
Bihar and its cultures are more ignited and united. While it’s the land where the world’s first democracy was governed by the Lichchavi (the present Vaishali).
Bihar, once known for its vast cultural and historical landscape, has seen many changes over the centuries. The ancient universities of Nalanda and Vikramshila, once global centers of learning, were destroyed by invaders in the 12th century, marking a dark chapter in history. Today, Bihar stands resilient, with the government striving to restore its glorious heritage through various initiatives and conservation projects.
Every year on March 22, Bihar proudly celebrates its foundation day, commemorating the formation of the state in 1912. This year marks the 113th anniversary of Bihar, a moment of pride for its people. The celebration honors Bihar’s rich history, vibrant culture, and significant contributions to the nation. Events showcasing traditional art, music, and achievements of the state are organized, reflecting Bihar’s progress and aspirations. The government continues to work towards preserving its legacy while paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future.
