YouTube India Removes Abir Gulaal Songs Featuring Fawad Khan Amidst Rising Tensions 

In a major development, the songs of the film Abir Gulaal featuring Fawad Khan has been removed from YouTube India following a directive from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This action comes in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives, of tourists visiting the valley. The removal has ignited a debate over the participation of Pakistani artists in Indian media.

After backlash, two songs from the film’s album titled ‘Khudaya Ishq’ and ‘Angreji Rangrasiya’ have been removed from YouTube India after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a directive in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack . The attack, which claimed 26 lives, has led to heightened scrutiny over cross-border cultural collaborations.

Fawad Khan, who stars alongside Vaani Kapoor in the film “Abir Gulaal,” expressed his condolences on social media, labeling the incident as a “horrific tragedy.” Despite his statement, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called for a complete ban on Pakistani artists in the Indian entertainment industry .

This isn’t the first time Fawad Khan has faced challenges in India. His 2016 film “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” encountered protests following the Uri terror attack. Similarly, in 2019, T-Series removed songs by Pakistani singers Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan from its YouTube channel after the Pulwama attack, following pressure from political groups.
