The Excise Department stated that both Rehman and Hamza are regular narcotics users. The seizure of a small quantity of cannabis classifies the offense under the “small quantity” category of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which typically allows for bail. However, the department’s assertion about their regular use could influence ongoing investigations.
Earlier Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was summoned by the Excise department, and asked him to appear for questioning on April 28 regarding the hybrid ganja seizure. Actor Sreenath Bhasi was also issued a notice in the same case.
