The Kerala Police has arrested popular Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko in connection with a drug abuse case on Saturday. The arrest follows a police raid at a hotel in Kochi, where Chacko was reportedly present. The 41-year-old was caught fleeing the scene during the raid but was later apprehended by the authorities. Chacko has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, for drug abuse.

During the raid, authorities found evidence suggesting the presence of narcotics. Chacko in a bid to evade the authorities was caught in the CCTV footage, fleeing from the scene. The police detained Chacko for further investigation.
This is not the first time Shine Tom Chacko has been involved in a drug-related case. In 2015, he was arrested along with four women for allegedly possessing cocaine at a flat in Kochi. However, in February 2025, the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court acquitted Chacko and the other accused due to lack of evidence. The court noted that the prosecution failed to produce scientific evidence to prove that the accused consumed cocaine, as the blood samples showed no trace of the drug.
