Pahalgam Attack: Pakistani Terror Groups Conducted Rece Before Strike, 28 killed in Kashmir’s deadliest attack

In a latest development, at least 28 tourists were killed in the terrorist attack at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday. The attack occurred around 2:30 PM in the afternoon, with eyewitnesses claiming the terrorist dressed in military fatigues deliberately targeted the tourists. Among the dead one Italian and one Israeli tourist were also killed.

Furthermore, Union Home Minister Amit has reached Srinagar to hold a high-level security meeting regarding the Pahalgam terror attack.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that the death toll is still being ascertained and an official announcement will be made shortly.“This attack is much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years,” he said on X.

As per the intelligence reports terrorist organisation had conducted a recce of several tourist locations in Kashmir, especially targeting hotels, during the first week of April. The recce sites included hotels in Pahalgam which alerted the investigating authorities.

According to reports, between four and six terrorists were involved in the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Among them, three are believed to be foreign nationals, while one was identified as a local Kashmiri. The assailants used an AK-47 rifle during the assault, and several M4 bullet casings were recovered from the scene.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, directed Home Minister Amit Shah to assess the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, via video conferencing. The terror attack also coincided with the ongoing four-day visit of US Vice President JD Vance to India.

“I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice…they will not be spared,” said PM Modi.
